Is Popping Pimples Bad for You?

Do you pop pimples? If so, you might sometimes think of the undesirable consequences of popping pimples. You might have seen and know someone with a scarred face due to popping pimples. Or it might even run in your family (your sisters and brothers have minor or major face scarring…) and you get scared that it is passed down the family line and assume that it would happen to you too. There is also the fact that majority of people agree and think that doing so is bad. So the question really is, is pimple popping bad?

Eating fat is not bad. Eating excessive fat is bad. Earning money is not bad. Earning money by illegal means is bad. Crossing a road junction when traffic light is green is not bad. Crossing a road junction when the traffic light is red is bad. The point is doing something in excess, doing something improperly and doing something at the wrong time is definitely bad. The same can be said with popping our pimples. Though many say it is bad, the majority of those are also uninformed! Many just say them because that is what they have heard from other people.

In actuality, popping pimples is not entirely bad. Doing so properly and at the right time will rid you of your unwanted pimples. However, doing so without the proper knowledge of timing and technique can lead to disastrous results. So now you might ask, what is the proper way of popping pimples? To prove my point, here are the corrects steps in doing so:

1.    Wash your face and hands.
2.    Ready disinfectant alcohol, sterilized pin and a piece of clean cloth.
3.    Damp the cloth with alcohol.
4.    Check the color of your pimple. If it is red, then stop. Do not pop your pimple. If it is white, continue.
5.    Using the sterilized pin, try and poke the pimple gently. If it bursts then good. Let the puss come out and wipe the area of the pimple with your piece of cloth damped with alcohol to kill the bacteria. If it does not burst, discontinue.

If you follow the instructions above, then you would be able to pop your pimple correctly and at the right time. If you are not able to pop your pimple because you failed some of the tests, try again tomorrow and see if your pimple is ‘ripe for the taking’.

So as you see from the instructions above, popping pimples is not entirely harmful. What is bad is ignorance on the subject of popping pimples. If you follow the instructions above, then you are on your way to a clear and face without pimples.

Reduce Acne With a Simple Daily Skincare Routine

A well-structured daily skin care routine can prevent acne, but it can hard to figure out what needs to be done to keep your skin clear. Any good skincare routine involves cleansing, toning, and moisturizing your skin. The part that I used to forget to do was moisturizing, which is the most important part of all. Without moisturization, your skin either ends up dry and scaly or, in my case, seems to kick up oil production and feel greasy.

The first step, cleansing, removes surface dirt and clears your pores. It also removes oil from the top of your skin, which leaves your skin feeling less greasy. I apply cleanser with cotton squares, applying cleanser all over my face once to remove most of the oils, and then again to make sure everything is completely clean.

Toning improves your skin’s quality. Depending on how oily your skin naturally is, you want to adjust the alcohol level of your toner. Oilier skin requires a toner with greater alcohol content to remove the oil, whereas dryer skin should not be toned with high-alcohol toners. For extremely dry skin, rose water or similar toners do the trick.

A water-based moisturizer helps keep your skin from drying out (or over-producing oil). Without moisturizing, your skin can easily get overly dry and uncomfortable, especially during the winter months. Generally, I use a moisturizer with an SPF rating, to prevent sun damage to my skin when I go out. You should only use an oil-based moisturizer if you have excessively dry skin, as oil based moisturizers can make naturally oily skin extremely greasy and shiny.

I’m obsessive about my skin, so I cleanse and moisturize twice a day, only toning in the morning. I feel that going to sleep with oily skin is just asking for trouble.
